Gifts for the newly engaged

Despite the difficulties of 2020, we still believe that love conquers all and the joy of a newly engaged couple is the same as ever.

With the wedding restrictions that are currently in place, many people who might previously have been guests understand that they may not be involved in person, so sending an engagement gift is a lovely gesture of support for the couple.

Also, an engagement present can be less expensive than a wedding gift as it doesn’t come from a predetermined list and is also more personal – maybe something the couple might not think of buying for themselves. Basically, if you think they’d like it, that’s ideal. And if you need a bit of help, here are some ideas…

A picture frame always goes down well as they’re bound to get a photo that they love, maybe from their engagement or from a guest at the wedding itself. It could even be personalised with a meaningful quotation or their names. And if you happen to have a great photo of them, even better.

If they have a town or city that holds a special meaning for them – for example where they got engaged – there might be a coffee table book about it that would remind them of that destination.

Personalised gifts are always lovely and there are plenty of things to choose from without breaking the bank, from initialled playing cards to a personalised bottle of champagne – and you could even add a couple of champagne flutes.

Another idea is a bound book of love poetry – thoughtful, meaningful, and budget friendly. Continuing with the book theme, a wedding planner notebook for the preparations or a beautifully bound guest book for the day itself will help the couple make wonderful memories.

Or, if you’re looking for something that they can do together, consider a wine-tasting session or a spa break.

If you want to send flowers – and it’s a lovely idea – why not consider a flower subscription that could continue for as long as you choose. That way, your gift keeps on going long after the engagement announcement. Likewise, a cocktail, wine, or other favourite tipple delivery, or even subscription, enables them to keep on toasting!

Whatever your budget, it’s never been truer to say ‘it’s the thought that counts’.
